Cefalu Backstreet
The sunlight breaks through between the buildings fronting a small street in Cefalu, Sicily.
The bricks and stucco form a winding path in the city with a mixture of textures and colors.

The newly completed "Cefalu backstreet" retraces a wandering walk through a backstreet in Sicily on a cloudy day. Brick paved streets lead through tight openings between brightly colored homes occasionally allowing a burst of sunlight to pop through the clouds.
The Artwork created at Deerpaths Studio reflects my experiences in rural and urban environments. Drawings and paintings capture intensity, tranquility or energy of a moment, with particular emphasis on structure and movement.
My artistic inspiration comes from the beauty of the natural landscape, my love of Northern Wisconsin, my worldwide travels, and my background as a professional architect. Structure is often evident in the controlled grids and defined lines that form the many layers of images within my paintings.
I strive to resolve the conflict between the beauty of the natural landscape and the artificiality of the man made environment. A graduate of the University Notre Dame, with a degree in architecture, I worked as an architect in Chicago. for a number of years. Thererafter , upon graduation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Fine Arts Degree I established Deerpaths Studio
